About Destinee

Destinee is the 9th District Will County Board Member and Forest Preserve Commissioner.

She is an advocate for transparency in government, environmental justice, and tax dollars that work for the people.

Destinee Ortiz is a wife and a devoted mother of three children, and a licensed substitute teacher in Will County. She is the newly elected Will County Board Member and Forest Preserve Commissioner for the 9th District. Destinee serves her community as a member of the Land Use and Development, Public Health and Public Safety, Stormwater Management Planning Committees, and a member the Forest Preserve District's Finance Committee.

Destinee is passionate about community and protecting the planet for the future generations. This is why she is a volunteer at Working Families Will County PAC, Joliet Township HS District 204, Sierra Club, and Citizens Against Ruining the Environment (C.A.R.E.). Destinee graduated this spring with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and American Studies at Governors State University as Cum Laude (University Honors).

Destinee decided to run for Will County Board because she cares about this community and every person in it. She believes that "everyday people" need a seat at the table, or they will be on the menu. Unchecked warehouse expansion, mass air and water pollution by major industries, corrupt politicians at every level of government---it's got to go!

As a county board member, Destinee Ortiz pledges to fight for: ethical leadership, community investment, youth programs and events, expanded health services, green spaces, walk/bike trails, clean water, green union jobs, environmental justice, highspeed broadband, and more!

"It's time we elect candidates who will no longer allow big businesses to destroy our environment at the taxpayers' expense.

WE NEED CLEAN AFFORDABLE WATER, SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE, AND TRUE GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY."
